Diana advocates for client policy priorities on Capitol Hill. In this unique role at Groom, Diana connects clients with key congressional offices and translates complex retirement, health, and tax issues into relatable, actionable items for lawmakers and their staffs. Diana counts as legislative victories provisions in such important legislation as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the SECURE Act of 2019, the CARES Act of 2020, and the SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022.
Previously, Diana served as Policy Director for the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs during the 84th Legislature. In that role, she worked extensively with state retirement agencies and employee groups to address funding and administrative requirements for the state’s pension and health plans. Prior to joining Groom, Diana worked on executive compensation and Affordable Care Act matters at a major accounting firm.
Diana writes and speaks on issues related to retirement and health policy for various entities, including the D.C. Bar, the American Bar Association, the Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance, and TAXES Magazine, among others. Diana credits her career to a tenth grade history class viewing of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and delights in mentoring similarly inspired students.
