Jim Cole’s wide-ranging experience covers multiemployer, fiduciary, investment, training, government investigations, internal audits, plan funding and withdrawal liability, plan termination and mergers, reporting and disclosure, fiduciary insurance, bonding, employee benefit accounting, executive compensation, tax-exempt organizations, and labor issues.
Jim has served as counsel to financial institutions, employers (multi-, single, and multiple), individual and independent fiduciaries, government entities, educational and charitable organizations, trade associations, corporations, unions, Labor Management Cooperation Committees, individual corporate officers, investment managers, mutual funds, and other investment vehicles. His work with groups of clients on particular issues yielded improvements and clarity in government regulations, disclosure obligations, Department of Labor enforcement initiatives, fiduciary insurance coverage, and benefit funding accounting requirements.
The author of numerous articles on employee benefits matters, Jim is also a frequent speaker at multiemployer, labor, trade association, financial institution, investment association, and government plan conferences. He is also a past co-chair of the reporting and disclosure committee of the ABA employee benefits section and a past member of the Government Liaison Committee of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.
