DOL Releases Request for Information on Fiduciary Rule and Prohibited Transaction Exemptions

The U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”) issued a request for information on the fiduciary rule and prohibited transactions (the “RFI”). The RFI seeks information on specific ideas for possible new exemptions or regulatory changes based on recent public comments and market developments.  Responses to the RFI question regarding a potential delay in the 1/1/18 end to the Transition Period must be submitted on or before 15 days after the RFI is scheduled for publication in the Federal Register. Comments on the additional requests will be due on or before 30 days after publication. At this time, the publication date is unknown, but it is not currently scheduled for publication on the Federal Register’s website.
